Kochi City Police

Kochi City Police has the core objective to fight crimes and prevent them from occurring or in any affecting the society. It is headed by the Commissioner of Police and to assist him there are two Deputy Commissioners. There are separate sections like the narcotics, Armed reserve camps, District Crime Records Bureau, Senior citizen and women's cell. There are around 17 police districts and they are headed by the inspector, general and two zonal director general of police.

Narcotic Cell Kochi

To combat drug trafficking there is a separate wing in Kochi Police known as the Narcotic cell. Possession, sale or use of any of the following products is against the law and you could get arrested for doing so. Some of the drugs that fall in this category include ganja, charas, brown sugar, opium, hashish, tidigesic, nitravite. District Crime Records Bureau in Kochi

To prevent and detect crimes a separate department called the District Crime Record Bureau was established in 1990. The State Crime Records Bureau (S.C.R.B) which is state head of this section is located in Thiruvananthapuram while National Crime Records Bureau (N.C.R.B) is positioned in Delhi.

Women’s Cell Kochi

The Women's Cell has two sections namely Vanitha Police Station and Women’s Cell. Now the Police Station has women police officers and deals exclusively with cases associated with women. Women’s Cell addresses issues related with disputes in family and they also offer counseling as well as seminars on various issues.

Armed Reserve Camp Kochi

The Armed Reserve Camp located in Ernakulam as well as Thrippunithura and are positioned 16 kms apart. The entire Armed Reserve administration is grouped as A’ & ‘B’ Coys forms I Wing, ‘C’ & ‘D’ Coys forms II Wing and ‘E’ & ‘HQ’ forms III Wing. There is an additional MT Wing which categorizes the Drivers and MT Mechanics.

This wing works exclusively to help the tourists who want information about location or accommodation services. These police offices can be seen at Fort Kochi, Ernakulam junction, Mattancherry, Railway station. The tourism department undertakes the responsibility in training them. The main idea of deploying them in the city is to prevent tourist from being cheated and help them get to their destination without much of a hassle.

Elderly citizens in Kochi can get assistance from the police in case of any emergency. Toll free number is 100 and the flying squad will reach to the residence to provide any kind of support.
